About Us

Gary William Cunha graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Baylor University School of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and the Police Officer Standards and Training degrees. He is licensed to practice law in the State Courts of Texas and the Federal Courts of the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas. In 1998 he was awarded the Justice Norvell Memorial Award and in 2004 he was the Republican nominee for District Judge. He is currently a member of the State Bar of Texas: Solo and General Practice Section, Family Law Section, and Bankruptcy Section. He is also current Vice-President of the Central Texas Bankruptcy Bar, and a member of NACBA: The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Waco-McLennan County Bar Association, and McLennan County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
 
After working for two firms, Mr. Cunha opened this law firm in 1999 and has helped thousands of people with a variety of legal matters in both civil and criminal courts at the state and federal level. In 2009, to celebrate 10 years in business for himself, Mr. Cunha changed the firm to a Professional Corporation which is now called Gary Cunha, P.C.

Mr. Cunha is married to Stephanie and they have two sons, Will and Jake.
 
Oh, and in case you were wondering, Cunha is Portuguese and is pronounced "coon-ya."

Edward Cunha
1885-1954
Mr. Cunha's grandfather, Edward Cunha, was a criminal prosecutor who prosecuted the Preparedness Day bombing case and later went into private law practice. He is featured in the books The Mooney Case and What Happened in the Mooney Case and the front page of the August 7, 1930 San Francisco Chronicle with the headline "Mooney, Billings Linked to Blasters by Cunha." Grandpa Cunha graduated from Stanford University in 1908 with his law degree.
